U.S. Treasury Requiring Electronic Federal Benefit Payments
News Alert - Federal Benefits no Longer Paid by Paper Check
The Treasury Department is phasing out paper check payments and requiring federal benefit recipients to get their money electronically effective March 1, 2013. Federal benefit recipients can switch to electronic payments by calling 1-800-333-1795. You will also need your financial institution’s routing number and account number to sign up for direct deposit. You can choose to get your payments by direct deposit to a bank or credit union account or to a Direct Express® Debit MasterCard® card account.
